In a typical Bollywood-flick style, the Crime Branch team led by the Police Inspector Dattaguru Sawant toiled the entire night to solve the Margao Jeweller murder mystery.
The Margao-based jeweller 35-year old Swapnil Walke was killed at around noon and within 12 hours the first accused was ion police net.
Sources in the Goa Police told that the Crime Branch team were informed by SP, to look out of one Mustafa Sheikh, from St Cruz, known for involvement in a murder case.
“In search we came across one Omklar Patil, who is close associate of Mustafa and also has criminal background and had also escaped from the Anjuna police custody in 2014,” said the source.
The sources said that the Crime Branch found his locations at Miramar, Dona Paula but was finally traced at St Cruz.
“Initially for hours Omkar refused to know anything but during questioning the accused admitted to have committed theft of a Bolero vehicle, which was used in murder crime in Margao,” sources said.
Sources said, Omkar also admitted to the murder by 4-5 people and the entire night Omkar Patil was with the team in search for others.
“The team was also searching for Evander Rodrigues, of Alto St Cruz, and instead found Edson Gonsalves – who is also accused as per Margao police,” sources said.
The two – Mustafa and Evander are on the run and they will be nabbed very soon, officials said.
After entire night of search, which started at around 6 pm, finally ended at 4.00 am when the accused were handed over to Margao police.
Sources further said they do not have the details of motive as teh Margao police is now investigating the accused.
However, the CB is still on lookout for the absconders and is confident to nab the two soon.
Anjuna Police Inspector Suraj Gawas when contacted confirmed that the Omkar Patil had escaped from custody in 2014 but was arrested later and chargesheeted.
