PANAJI: Hours after the All Goa Kanand Maha Sangh announced that it is not fielding any panel under its banner, the Revolutionary Goans chief Manoj Parab has hit back by asking, “if they did not want to contest, why did they form Kanada Mahasangh?”
Parab, reacting to Kana Mahasangh pesident Siddana Meti said “If you want to contest as ‘The Goan’, why did you form Kannada Mahasangh?”
“You people have come here to finish, loot, and rape Goans. You’ve come here to take our jobs and our lands. You’ve come here to make your vote bank, contest elections and become panch, sarpanch, MLA and CM of Goa. You’ve carried out cultural genocide in Goa,” he said.
Parab also charged that the outsiders brought Devi Durga on the street in the name of Durga puja.
“You’ll come as labour, and today you’ll have built big bungalows. Feeling bad being called ‘Ghanti’, then go back to your state,” he said.
Yesterday, Akhil Goa Kannada Maha Sangh’ President Siddana Meti said that his statement was misquoted that Kannadigas would contest a Panchayat election under the panel of ‘Goan Kannadiga.’
“I wish to clarify that my statement was misunderstood and misquoted. We are not forming any panel or banner to contest the Goa Panchayat election would be not fought under any Panel or banner either Kannadiga or any other affiliated organizations. We would contest election purely as ‘The Goan’,” said Meti.
He further said that certain sections of people are deliberately targeting his community with derogatory remarks on social media.
“Humiliating word like ‘Ghanti’ has hurt the sentiment of many people in general and students in particular,” he said.
