MARGAO: Fatorda Police have arrested two key accused in alleged connection with the murder of Ali Kalandar Khanzade, marking a significant breakthrough in the high-profile Gulistan Masjid murder case.
The arrests were made during a late-night operation led by Police Inspector Rahul and his team. Police said further investigation is underway to recover the vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the crime, along with cash and the weapon suspected to have been used in the murder.
Investigators are also continuing efforts to trace and arrest two other accused who remain absconding.
Police are searching for Mehboob Makandar, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind the crime, and Altaf Sayed. Both have allegedly been evading arrest for the past six months.
Police officials said multiple teams are working on the case and that efforts are underway to apprehend all those allegedly involved.
The murder of Ali Kalandar Khanzade, vice-president of the Gulistan Masjid at Gogol, had sent shockwaves across the region earlier this year. Police said the investigation remains active, with further arrests and recoveries expected as the probe progresses.
