PANAJI: In a move aimed at reducing the backlog of pending revenue cases, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has directed all Collector, Deputy Collector, Mamlatdar and Inspector of Survey and Land Records (ISLR) offices across Goa to remain open on Saturdays to hear and dispose of pending cases.
The directive was issued during a virtual review meeting held at Mahalaxmi, Panaji, with Collectors, Deputy Collectors, Mamlatdars and other concerned officials to assess the progress of the Mhaje Ghar Scheme and Special Adalat. The Chief Minister also launched the Goa Special Courts initiative.
Sawant directed officials to utilise Saturdays specifically for hearings related to the Mhaje Ghar Scheme, land mutations, partition cases, tenancy matters and Mundkar purchase cases, with the objective of accelerating the disposal of long-pending revenue disputes.
The decision is expected to provide additional hearing days and help citizens facing delays in resolving land and property-related matters.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for effective coordination among revenue authorities and directed officials to ensure time-bound implementation of the initiatives.
He emphasised that faster disposal of cases and efficient delivery of public services must remain the priority, particularly in matters involving land ownership, tenancy rights and residential claims.
The Goa Special Courts initiative is aimed at strengthening the mechanism for handling pending cases and ensuring quicker resolution through focused hearings and better coordination between government offices.
The government said the initiatives are intended to make revenue administration more responsive and people-centric by reducing procedural delays and ensuring timely justice to citizens.
