Goa reported the fifth death of a COVID-19 patient on Friday, when a 75-year-old woman succumbed to the virus at the COVID hospital.
The State on Friday reported its second-highest single-day increase in cases, with 94 persons testing positive from 2,703 sample reports that arrived on Friday. A day earlier, on Thursday, the State had recorded it highest single-day spike with 95 cases.
With Friday’s addition of 94, the confirmed cases now stand at 1,576, of which 800 are active and 772 have recovered from the virus.
On Friday, 38 people recovered and seven patients were put under hospital isolation. The health bulletin released by the Health Department reveals that 101 people have been placed under facility quarantine at several residencies and hotels across Goa

As new cases among police personnel are being reported, and an officer attached with the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) was the latest victim. Sources said that the officer and his wife have tested positive. Since the officer had reported to work, the office premises that also houses the Vigilance Office was sanitised by the Fire & Emergency personnel. The staff was also sent for COVID-19 testing, the reports of which are awaited.
