Following several complaints of non-maintenance of social distancing at the Caranzalem beach, the North Goa Collector has warned the fisherman that sale of fish at the beach will be allowed only with strict following of norms.
A meeting was held at the North Goa Collector and Dy Collector alongwith Mayor, Commissioner, ward corporator, health officer, officers of fisheries department, police department, fishermen association and others to discuss the situation after the violations COVID19 norms went viral on social media.
“Collector has told fishermen that selling of fish would be permitted only if social distancing is maintained,” sources revealed.
For several days thousands of people throng to Caranzalem for fresh fish without maintaining social distancing even as the COVID19 cases are reaching a record high every day.
Panjim Mayor Uday Madkaikar had written to Collector to take action in this regard.
