PANAJI: GCA Yellow and GCA Green booked their places in the final of the Queen Cup Women’s T20 Trophy 2025-26 after registering victories in closely fought league matches on Saturday.
The tournament, organised by the Goa Cricket Association, saw all league stage fixtures being played at the NAPEX Ground in Sankhali.
GCA Yellow topped the four team standings with three consecutive victories, while GCA Green secured their place in the final with two wins. The title clash under floodlights is scheduled to be played on May 12 at the GCA Ground.
The opening match between GCA Blue and GCA Yellow produced high drama and eventually went into a Super Over after both teams finished tied on 118 runs.
Batting first, GCA Blue posted 118 for 7 in 20 overs, with captain Purvaja Verlekar leading the innings with 42 runs. Arya Parab added 15, while Savali Kolambkar starred with the ball for Yellow by claiming three wickets.
In reply, GCA Yellow also finished on 118 for 7, thanks largely to an unbeaten 53 from Nidhi Shambhawani. In the Super Over, Yellow scored 18 runs, with Tejashwini Duragad striking all the runs, while Blue could manage only 16.
In the second match, GCA Green defeated GCA Red by 26 runs after producing a strong all round performance.
Green piled up 162 for 3 in 20 overs, powered by captain Poorva Bhaidkar, who smashed 54 off just 32 balls. Tanisha Gaikwad contributed 42, while Divya Naik remained unbeaten on 31.
Chasing 163, GCA Red could only manage 136 for 6 despite efforts from Shreya Parab and Tanisha Gaikwad. Pooja Kalel played a crucial role in Green’s victory with figures of 3 for 30.
