Panaji: Geno Sports Club delivered a clinical performance to secure the Goa Premier Division League (One-Day) 2025–26 title, defeating Salgaocar Cricket Club by a comprehensive 136-run margin in the final held at the GCA Academy ground in Porvorim. The day-night encounter saw Geno excel across all departments, sealing a convincing win.
After electing to bat first, Geno set the tone early with a positive approach. Veer Yadav led the innings with a well-crafted 103 off 124 deliveries, striking 12 boundaries and a six. Captain Manthan Khutkar provided strong support, scoring a quick 58 off 47 balls to maintain momentum. Their partnership built a solid base for a big total.
The middle order capitalised effectively, with Kaushal Hattangadi scoring 41 off 28 balls and Manish Kakode adding 36 off 28. Vikas Singh contributed 33 runs as Geno surged past the 300 mark. With valuable extras boosting the total, the team posted 331 all out in 49.5 overs. Ruthvik Naik was the standout bowler for Salgaocar with three wickets, while the rest of the attack chipped in with one each.
Chasing 332, Salgaocar faltered early, losing two wickets for just 8 runs. Yash Kasvankar attempted to rebuild with a determined 71, while Yogesh Kauthankar scored 55, and together they stitched a 92-run partnership. However, the early setback proved costly.
Geno’s bowlers ensured there was no comeback. Leg-spinner Shiven Borkar produced a match-winning spell, claiming 5 wickets for just 11 runs in a short burst that dismantled the opposition. Salgaocar were eventually bowled out for 195 in 35.1 overs. Support came from Samarth Rane with two wickets, while Pundalik Naik and Nihal Surlakar added one each. Sharp fielding further strengthened Geno’s grip on the game, capping off a dominant title-winning performance.
