Ahmedabad: Anuj Rawat has praised Shubman Gill for his evolving leadership, noting a clear improvement in the young captain’s approach as Gujarat Titans prepare for a crucial fixture in the Indian Premier League.
Speaking ahead of their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rawat emphasised the importance of consistent preparation and mental readiness during a long tournament. He highlighted that staying physically and mentally fresh plays a key role in capitalising on opportunities when they arise.
Reflecting on Gill’s captaincy, Rawat pointed to a noticeable sense of maturity and composure. He observed that the skipper has developed a strong ability to balance aggression with calm decision-making, which has positively influenced the team environment.
Rawat also credited batting coach Matthew Hayden for helping him refine his power-hitting skills. He explained that his role in the middle order requires finishing innings strongly, and the guidance he has received has focused on improving technique to generate greater hitting power.
In addition, Rawat singled out teammate Glenn Phillips for his exceptional fielding, describing him as a standout performer in the field.
The upcoming clash between Gujarat and Bengaluru is expected to be a high-intensity encounter, with both sides in strong positions on the points table. While Gujarat aims to build momentum, Bengaluru, led by Rajat Patidar, will look to continue their impressive run this season.
As the tournament progresses, Gill’s leadership and the team’s collective performance will be closely watched in what promises to be a tightly contested season.
