PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar has demanded a court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into all alleged job scams in Goa, alleging possible links between the cash-for-jobs scam and the alleged fake Excise Commissioner case.
Chodankar raised concerns over alleged forged signatures, fake government orders and the possibility of evidence being destroyed.
He questioned how Ajit Shankhwalkar, a suspect in the alleged fake Excise Commissioner case, could have been connected to the appointment and issuance of government job appointment orders without the support of influential individuals.
The Congress leader also alleged possible links between the alleged scams and the Chief Minister’s Office, calling for a comprehensive investigation to establish the facts and identify those responsible.
Questioning the Goa Police over the alleged delay in arresting Shankhwalkar, Congress demanded Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s resignation, alleging that the repeated involvement of people purportedly close to the Chief Minister in job-related controversies raised serious concerns.
Chodankar urged the Chief Minister to step down, warning that the Prime Minister should remove him if he refused to resign.
He reiterated the demand for a court-supervised SIT investigation into all alleged job scams to ensure accountability and prevent any interference with the probe.
