VALPOI: The passengers travelling to Belgaum from Goa via Chorla Ghat have to suffer a lot due to the bad condition of the highway between Jamboti and Goa border.
Goa government has spent crores of rupees to repair the highway to Goa, but the road on another side of the border is in precarious condition.
The road from Goa to Jamboti in Karnataka has deteriorated and the commuters have to bear the brunt of vehicle damages and accidents.
More importantly, the number of vehicles on the road has started increasing as the Anmod highway is closed for traffic.
Four months ago, the Goa government spent crores of rupees on a new hot mix asphalt from the Sanquelim to the Goa border. Due to many potholes on the highway from the Goa border to Jamboti, this highway has become dangerous for traffic at present.
The commuters have demanded that the Karnataka government pay serious attention to this highway and repair the road immediately.
Negating the route has become a serious issue for commuters, especially cars and jeeps face serious problems.
There are complaints from motorists that vehicles are being damaged while pulling vehicles out of some potholes.
At present, the Chorla Highway is essential. Goa and the Karnataka government need to pay serious attention to this road.
This is because the citizens of Goa go to Belgaum areas in large numbers for various types of shopping.
It is essential to make roads safe for traffic.
