PORVORIM: Goan residents, especially parents, have been forewarned by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant not to fall for phone calls claiming that cybercriminals are requesting a ransom to free their kidnapped children.
Sawant underlined how crucial it is to inform the police about these occurrences and avoid making any payments. This is a large-scale scheme that operates out of several nations. Sawant stated, “People ought to notify the police and refrain from making payments.
Sankalp Amonkar, the Mormugao MLA, voiced concerns during Zero Hour, which prompted the Chief Minister’s warning. Amonkar emphasized how parents’ anxiety is rising as a result of the state’s rising incidence of cybercrimes and cyberfrauds.
Amonkar claimed that several parents had recently received fictitious calls from kidnappers claiming to have abducted their children and demanded a ransom. He called on the government to look into this worrying issue in great detail and to act quickly to resolve it.
Amonkar’s comments are in line with the general sentiment of the people of Goa, who are becoming more and more wary of becoming victims of these kinds of cyberscams. Parents are on edge due to the recent spate of incidents, fearing for their children’s safety.
Chief Minister Sawant responded by assuring the people that the government is treating the matter seriously. Sawant emphasized how crucial it is for people to be vigilant and aware in order to stop these scams from succeeding.
