MARGAO: In a significant political statement, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that “Acche Din” (good days) are on the horizon for Margao, hinting at major development plans and reaffirming his support for local MLA and former Congress leader Digambar Kamat.
Speaking at a BJP workers’ meeting in Margao, Sawant addressed growing concerns within party ranks over Kamat’s induction into the BJP after his defection from the Congress in September 2022. “Every time I visit Margao, I’m asked about Digambar Kamat joining the Cabinet. Let me say it clearly – good days are coming to Margao,” he said.
The Chief Minister credited Kamat for pushing development in the city and assured that the government is committed to completing key projects, including city beautification and heritage conservation.
He also highlighted Kamat’s efforts in securing regularization of municipal employees, stating that the move would benefit many workers from economically weaker backgrounds. “Digambar consistently raised the issue, and my government has delivered,” he added.
Sawant expressed confidence that Margao would be among the 27 constituencies the BJP aims to win in the 2027 Assembly elections, signaling the party’s intent to strengthen its presence in South Goa.
