PANAJI: Goa has become the first state in the country to provide Pertuzumab-Trastuzumab combination for breast cancer patients, costing nearly Rs 4.2 lakh free of cost to patients.
“I’m happy to announce that on World Cancer Day, Directorate of Health Services – Goa has unveiled the Pertuzumab-Trastuzumab combination, a state-of-the-art monoclonal antibody for HER2+ breast cancer patients at GMC,” announced Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
He said this wonder drug is now available free of cost for patients, marking a unique initiative in India and creating an opportunity for curing the disease and curbing patients at an earlier stage, ultimately saving lives.
“Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the expert guidance of Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya, I am committed to promote initiatives that foster a healthy life and well-being across Goa,” he said.
Rane said this wonder drug can treat breast cancer in its early stages.
“Our strong commitment to pushing forward with new and advanced treatments ensures that everyone can benefit from the latest medical solutions. This marks a big change in how we fight breast cancer, bringing in a new era of hope and healing for women all across the country,” he said.
Giving dteails of teh medicine, Rane said, It has the potential for complete cure when administered in the early stages of breast cancer.
“Recently, the state Health Department, with the invaluable contribution of DWCD Goa, has achieved 1 lakh breast cancer screenings. Aligned with Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s vision for #NariShakti, we are committed to the well-being and security of women in our society through state-of-the-art healthcare facilities,” he said.
