PANAJI: Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane today said that there is active push from the Depertment to strengthen its resolve towards wildlife rescue cause by completely modernizing the Wildlife Rescue Centre.
“There is an active push from the Dept to strengthen its resolve towards wildlife rescue cause by completely modernizing the Wildlife Rescue Centre with newly added Rescue van with all latest equipment and tools for quick and effective response,” said Rane.
He further said that there is a dedicated toll free helpline number 1926 for wildlife rescue to shorten the response time in golden hour with newly added Rescue van with all latest equipment and tools for quick and effective response.
Forest Minister also inaugurated various facilities created by Forest Dept in Campal Panaji Wildlife Habitat Garden Campal, Campal Nursery, Wildlife Rescue Centre and Panaji)Territorial Range Office.
Forest Department of Goa has established a one of its kind Wildlife Habitat Garden Campal in the centre of Panaji City with an aim to create awareness among students, youth and general public towards forest ecosystem by and its backward linkages with forest nursery.
“Campal Nursery is a Modern nursery equipped with latest techniques and having dedicated chambers like green house, mist house, vermicompost ie waste to energy etc. It also houses various saplings, forest species, fruit bearing species, herbs, shrubs and ornamental plants,” he added.
The minister said that one of the enticing features of Nursery is Nursery Information Centre which is an attempt by dept to sensitize and engage students, children and youth towards various nursery activities and methods to grow a sapling right from scratch so that they can use this knowledge to implement in their house, neighborhood premises to plant more tress.
