PANAJI: The former president of the Shree Lairai Devasthan Temple Committee, Ganesh Gaonkar, is facing serious allegations of mismanagement and misuse of temple property and funds during his three terms in office. Dinanath Gaonkar, the current president of the committee, has publicly criticized his predecessor for failing to contribute positively to the temple and allegedly using its resources for personal gain.
In a recent statement, Dinanath Gaonkar claimed, “Ganesh Gaonkar did nothing for the temple during his previous three terms; instead, he misused temple property and temple funds for his personal gains.”
As part of his efforts to restore the temple’s integrity, Dinanath Gaonkar also announced a significant change regarding the area around the temple. Starting next year, the temple committee will no longer allow stalls to be set up along the lane leading to the temple. “The committee will not allow the stalls alongside the lane leading to the temple from next year onwards,” Gaonkar confirmed.
This decision comes as part of a broader initiative by the current committee to improve the environment around the temple and preserve its sanctity. The removal of the stalls is expected to enhance the temple’s accessibility and ensure that the area remains free of overcrowding, contributing to a more spiritual and peaceful atmosphere for devotees.
The Shree Lairai Devasthan is a prominent place of worship, and the temple committee’s efforts to address these concerns reflect their commitment to managing its affairs with greater transparency and responsibility.
