PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will overturn the Bombay High Court’s interim stay on the process of identifying and notifying ST population figures for political reservation in Goa.
Sawant said the Government of India will challenge the High Court’s decision before the Supreme Court. He added that the Goa Government and the ST Association have also filed intervention applications in the matter.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to the issue, the Chief Minister said every possible effort would be made to ensure political reservation for Scheduled Tribes in Goa by 2027.
