PORVORIM: Reacting to the allegations of Opposition of ₹11 cr expense on Sarkar Tumchya Dari program of Goa Govt, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that Sarkar Tumchya Dari was not an election stunt.
“Sarkar Tumchya Dari was not an election stunt. The program helped to solve many issues, people witnessed governance at their doorstep. We continued holding the event even after the election,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that Minister who attends Janata Darbar is not king but they are servants of the people, which is why they are visiting the talukas.
“Darbars are held to address issues of the people,’ Sawant added.
Chief Minister said that the second Janata Darbar will be held on August 14 where Minister Mauvin Godinho will be at Mapusa and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte at Margao.
“First Janta Darbar was held on July 3 spending only Rs19k for Mapusa where Minister Nilesh Cabral was present and Rs 86K Margao where Minister Babush Monserrate was present: CM Dr Pramod Sawant.
Leader of Opposition (LoP) Yuri Alemao said that 11 Crores was spent on “Sarkar Tumchya Daari” Events with Post-Facto Approval. The government spent 69 Lakhs on a 2-day Event at Neturlem in Sanguem without any Codal Formality.
He further said that there was hardly any presence for the programmes- 51 in Mapusa and 33 in Margao.
Replying to Alemao, Sawant said that clarifies to the House that Rs 2.99 crore was spent on a total of eleven events of Sarkar Tumchya dari.
He said that the event was organized through an empanelled agency for the welfare of the people
Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa said that the govt has to hold Janata Darbar because the administration has failed otherwise minister would not have been required to go to talukas. However, CM rubbished his statement, claiming that the program was to increase the happiness index.
