ALDONA: On Monday, hundreds of people came together demanding justice for Siddhi Naik and her family by holding a candlelight procession.
People from the villages of Aldona, Nachinola, Moira, Bastora, and some social activists and political party representatives gathered near Aldona Parish Centre to protest against the collapsed law and order situation in the State in the presence of family members.
The protestors highlighted that four rape incidents were reported in four-and-half months in the State during the BJP rule.
The mother of the 19-year girl present at the candlelight procession said that Goa Police, inspite of a missing complaint, did not take any action and waited for 24 hours to get into action.
“I demand justice for my child. Goa Police has failed to act inspite of filing a complaint,” she said.
People present said that the police should act immediately on a missing complaint of a woman once registered at the police station and should not wait for 24 hours.
Social activist Rama Kankonkar said that Goa Police have become puppets of the BJP and its ministers.
The body of a 19-year-old woman was found on Calangute beach in North Goa last week, a day after she was reported missing by her family.
According to police, a post-mortem revealed no indication of sexual assault or violence and the woman had died due to drowning.
10 persons questioned so far…
The police said that they questioned around 10 more persons in the case so far, but there has been no headway.
Police are also checking the CCTV footage of places wherever possible.
On Sunday, Siddhi’s father Sandip also handed over the mobile messages etc to the police, examined.
Sources said the Scarlet Killing case in 2009 has repeated itself. The body was the victims have been found in similar conditions.
The Crime Branch has been assisting the Calangute police in investigations.
After missing for a day, Siddhi Naik’s body was found at Calangute beach in questionable condition. Police have so far said the death was due to drowning.
The father of the girl, who worked in Porvorim Mall, has questioned the police investigations.
He has also maintained that Siddhi was depressed after testing positive for COVID19 and threatened to commit suicide.
