PANAJI: Governor of Goa P.S Sreedharan Pillai today said that Goa will be the “SMART UTILITY STATE” in the days to come.
“Our State has stood as a role Model for drinking Water Supply and with Augmentation of various Water Treatment Plants, soon Goa will be the “SMART UTILITY STATE” and to sustain it, number of initiatives have been taken up and the ultimate aim of the State will be 24 X7 water for all,” said Governor Pillai.
He further said that all the ongoing sewerage schemes, with an aim to achieve 100% sewerage connectivity, will be commissioned during this year totalling to 42.5 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plants.
“Notification for implementation of MLA-LAD Scheme is in place and this year we will see sanction of over Rs. 100 crore with annual ceiling limit of Rs. 2.5 crores per Assembly constituency and to ensure all the works are completed in the same financial year, a committee is constituted to accord faster sanctions and its timely execution,” he added.
The governor said that through Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, 12 50 Infrastructure works worth Rs. 173.20 crore have been completed till November 2023 in the current financial year and 13 works worth Rs. 601.00 crore are in advanced stages of completion and will be completed in the current financial year.
Meanwhile, Governor also said that the State has done commendable progress in the development of both surface and ground water. The Tillari Irrigation project has brought around 6933 ha of land under Irrigation. The National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project has been completed in September 2023.
