PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant directed the Collector North to prepare a detailed plan to rehabilitate Goan fruit vendors and stalls.
Sawant said that he had instructed the North Goa collector to take the GMC authorities, MLAs, Panchayat members etc., into confidence and relocate the vendors to a place where there will be no disturbance for an ambulance and other traffic.
“Some stalls are leased out to people from outside Goa; that should not be allowed,” he added. CM, however, claimed that the stall owners were warned about the demolition time and again.
Claiming that 70 % of the stalls were leased out, St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes said they have identified the places for relocation and shown the plan for the same to CM. The same will be shared with the Collector, and the stalls will be relocated, he added.
“There was some miscommunication due to which the demolition was carried out. We will help the stall owners and vendors,” assured St. Andre MLA Silveira.
