CANACONA: Stating Canacona has specialized importance in its contribution towards improvement of our State (Goa), WRD & Cooperation Minister Subhas Shirodkar Goa’s improvement is part of Nation’s Development.
Shirodkar was speaking after hoisting the tri-color at Canacona as part of the official celebrations of 77th Independence Day on Thursday.
Speaking further Shirodkar said, ‘ Thousand of Revolutionaries fought for the Independence of our country and became out proud Freedom Fighters. Our salute to Freedom Fighters and the brave jawans who are protecting our borders from the enemies and makes it possible to us to have peaceful sleep.’
At the same time we should never forget the important slogan given by Prime minister ‘Vikashit Bharat 2047’. Our PM has a great vision to make our country a developed country, by making developments in each of the fields including technology and agriculture. Education and Energy to take on the challenges are the two key and important factors if we are to be self-reliant. Canacona has unique and specialized part in our State’s contribution for being improvement is part in nations building and development. Canacona is the only taluka to have two dams and is making a huge mark in agriculture fields’.
Earlier, Minister unfurled the national Flag and inspected the parade and took the salute give by Canacona Police.
Students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Canacona took the lead in singing National Anthem.
In the cultural program that followed students of St. Thereza of Jesus HS, Chaudi, Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya, Char-Rasta, and Shree Katiyanai B. vidyalaya , Kindlem, presented parotic songs., while students of JNVC presented a play Dance ad GHSS Canacona performed a Group Dance.
CMC Chairperson Sara Shamba Naik Dessai, Vice Chairperson Narscisco (Nadin) Fernandes, most of the councilors, Canacona Dy. Collector Madhu Narvekar , Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar, BDO Savio Carvalho, and other officers were present. Some of sarpanchas and panch members , besides, teachers, and other prominent citizens were present.
Minister Shirodkar late visited Chapoli dam and unfurled tri-color at the Dam.
Independence Day was celebrated Canacona Municipal Council, besides all the institutions including Shri Mallikarjun College, Higher Secondary’s and High Schools unfurled the Tri-color and held different programs on the day.
