PANAJI: The Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai distributed the financial assistance to 144 cancer patients from Governor’s discretionary funds today.
The special program was organised at Old Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan. Shri M. R. M. Rao, IAS, Secretary to Governor and Shri Sanjeev C. Gauns Dessai, Add. Secretary to Governor were present.
As announced by the Governor of Goa, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai continued disbursing financial assistance to people afflicted with dialysis, cancer and other patients on various occasions.
Addressing the celebration the Governor, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai mentioned that the initiatives started by the Goa Raj Bhavan has been initiated in other states in extending financial assistance to needy people. The efforts of the Raj Bhavan is very well appreciated by others, the Governor added.
Elaborating on cancer treatment, the Governor said that proper treatment for cancer is now available all over, wherein 80% of the patients get cured speedily. He underlined the need of boosting mental power of such patients and one should have faith in medical system.
The Governor Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai also prayed for speedy recovery of cancer patients.
Earlier, Shri M.R.M. Rao, IAS, Secretary to the Governor welcomed the guests.
Cheques of financial assistance were also handed over to the Additional Collector North and South and Mamlatdars of Tiswadi, Quepem, Ponda, and Salcette taluka.
