PANAJI: Minister for Agriculture Ravi Naik said that Government is in process of Redevelopment of Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana, Goa including for production of Ethanol on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis.

He further said that the bidding process has been initiated and invited Request for Qualification (RFQ) applications through the Government of Goa e-Procurement System from eligible and interested entities for pre-qualification and shortlisting for participation in the RFP / Bid Stage for award of the Project. the same was opened on 27/02/2023 and evaluation is in process.
The sugarcane production facilitation committee appointed by the government hadsubmitted the report regarding the ethanol project, further process will be initiated by the government.
According to the central government’s plan, the pollution-free ethanol project will be useful for Goa and added that the sugarcane producers will benefit from the project.
The factory and sugarcane cultivation in Goa was at its peak in the 90’s. However, the government took over the factory in 1996 after it started incurring losses.
Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Kharkhana (SSSK) Ltd, Goa was running the show until then with Former Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane as the Chairman.
The losses of the Sanjivani factory continued to mount despite being taken over by the government.
