Temple Tender Row: Ex-Sarpanch Defends Contractor Selection

CANACONA: Amid the controversy over the award of the Shree Mallikarjun Temple renovation contract to a Muslim contractor, former Khotigao Sarpanch Anandu Desai claimed the actual work would be carried out by Jagdish Bhat, a Brahmin contractor experienced in temple construction. Desai said the tender was issued in the name of Allabaksh Mulla because Bhat allegedly did not have the required licence to bid for the project. The social media posts explaining the decision were later deleted as demands grew for cancellation of the work order, which was subsequently withdrawn by GTDCL.
