PANAJI:Governor of Goa Bhagat Singh Koshyari today said that the state government is keen to protect the interest of Goa in Mhadei River dispute issue.
Governor Koshiyari delivered his address through a video message during the Republic Day function in Panaji.
“Govt is keen to protect the interest of Goa in Mhadei river dispute; vigorous efforts are being made to stop any diversion of water to Karnataka,” said Koshyari
He further said that the attempt of State of Karnataka for diverting the water has been brought to the notice of the Apex Court by filing a fresh contempt petition in October, 2020.
“Union Jal Shakti ministry has considered Goa objections and taken into account the salinity zone in the yield calculation of the basin and a salinity study has been entrusted to the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Roorkee,” he added
