PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that government staff violating rules and regulations will be met with strict action.
“All Government officials are Public Servants, henceforth any violation of rules and regulations by Govt. Staff will be met with strict action to ensure transparency and maintain public trust,” said Sawant.
He further said that this will not be tolerated now. We have already started issuing memos to those who are not punctual or are lethargic towards work,” he said.
“If the situation continues, we will not hesitate even to send those employees home,” the chief minister warned.
There are around 60,000 regular government employees in Goa, while another 10,000 are working on a contractual basis.
CM earlier had said that 20 per cent of the government staff does not work to the optimum level, warning of action against them.
He said that department functioning needs to be streamlined and the staff need to understand that they are public servants and that they are paid.
“if they can’t provide services, or are not interested in work, then they should take VRS and go home and let new & young blood take over,” he said.
