PANAJI: As a permanent solution to water crisis faced by the people of Bicholim, Pernem and Bardez taluka, the Dr Pramod Sawant led government has decided source water directly from Tillari dam, by laying a special dedicated water pipeline, rather than depending on the open canal system.
The Tillari Irrigation cum drinking water project is a joint venture of Goa and Maharashtra government.
The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that the government is committed to ensure the project supplies abundant water to Goa for drinking and agriculture purposes.
He said that as the water supply from Tillari dam is irregular, the government is now planning to take it directly from the dam by laying an underground water pipeline, instead of depending on the open canal system, which bursts every year on the Maharashtra side.
Sawant informed that a 23 kms long underground pipeline will be a permanent solution towards ensuring uninterrupted supply of water.
