PANAJI: The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that the Government has set target of July 30 to vaccinate the entire population in the age group of 18-44.
Sawant also said that he will hold a review meeting on June 6, Sunday, to decide on the State-wide curfew extension.
Addressing media persons at the sidelines of the event organised on the eve of Environmental Day, the Chief Minister expressed displeasure towards poor public response to the vaccination drives held by the State.
He said that we have opened up vaccination for 18-44 years with focus on priority group. However, on the first day, I saw only 1800 lactating mothers cum parents getting vaccinated.
“That is the reason what we decided to cover even parents with kids below 5 years. Earlier it was 2 years. We want everyone to take the benefit,” he said.
“We have set the target of July 30 to have 100 percent vaccination coverage to this group,” he added.
Responding to a question on curfew extension, Sawant said that a review meeting will be held on June 6 to decide whether to go for extension and if yes for how long.
“Even if we lift curfew, it should not be that people start crowding places and violate covid norms. This will bring in thrid wave too early,” he said adding ‘ even those who are vaccinated should continue to wear masks and avoid going in crowded places’.
In yet another question, Sawant said that his government is working hard and in the coming days, will find State ranking in the first two on the NITI Aayog Sustainable Development goal.
