PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that state governemnt will pass the mining corporation bill in the upcoming assembly session.
CM also said that govt will auction mining leases along with forming mining corporation in a bid to re-start mining in Goa.
“State governemnt will pass the mining corporation bill in the upcoming assembly session; also we will pass the mining corporation bill in the upcoming assembly session, says state will auction mining leases, with mining corporation will try to start mining as soon as possible,” said CM Sawant
He further said that the state government honours the decision of the SC.
“I filed the plea after i took charge as the CM; How much i have tried to restart no one has done this; i know what the people dependent on mining face,” he added
CM Sawant also took a dig at Former CM Digambar Kamat for failing to renew mining leases during his tenure stating that this issue would not cropped if the leaseswere renewd.
“Before blaming others, he should think what he didduring his tenure,” he added
Sawant also stated that the formation of mining corporation is in the final stage and expressed hope of restarting mining soon.
Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL) a premier notified mineral exploration agency under the aegis of Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Directorate of Mines & Geology (DMG), Government of Goa, offering integrated mineral exploration and consultancy services today at New Delhi.
With the signing of MoU, MECL will assess mineral resources by conducting an array of geo-scientific exploration and will finalise the mineral blocks to be auctioned and establish the state’s mineral inventory.
