PANAJI: The Bombay High court at Goa today adjourned the appeal filed by the Goa government against the acquittal of senior journalist Tarun Tejpal in the sexual assault case to September 27, when the matter would be heard virtually.
The hearing was adjourned for October 27 as Advocate General (AG) Devidas Pangam and a counsel appearing for Tejpal asked for the next date.
Journalist Tarun Tejpal had sought an ‘in-camera hearing of the Goa government’s petition against a sessions court order that granted him bail in a 2013 rape case.
However, the Goa government objected to his appeal, saying the “country has the right to know how the institution dealt with the victim.
The Goa government had filed an appeal against the Additional Sessions Court Judge Kshama M Joshi’s order, acquitting Tarun Tejpal in the 2013 rape case.
