PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has quashed and set aside an order of the trial court which had rejected former MLA Mickky Pacheco’s application seeking to renew his Indian passport.
During the hearing, the HC declared that the trial court had not applied its reasoning in determining that the trial proceedings be stayed, but not the other actions, such as the application for passport renewal, which is unrelated to the main trial.
His passport had run out on March 10, 2024, so he had applied for a renewal. On April 1, however, the chief judicial magistrate of South Goa denied his application, citing the high court’s stay of the case.
In 2017, a case was filed at the chief judicial magistrate’s court in Margao against him and another person on charges of extortion, criminal intimidation, and other offenses.
