DABOLIM: A tourist who arrived in Goa through Dabolim Airport on Friday heaved a sigh of relief after a team of Goa Police’s SPCR (Highway Patrolling) traced and helped recover his bag containing cash and valuables, which he had accidentally dropped while travelling from the airport.
The tourist had stopped at a shop on the way from Dabolim Airport and, after making a payment through GPay, left the place. It was only later that he realised that his bag was missing. He returned to the shop hoping to find it, but the bag was nowhere to be found.
While retracing his steps, the tourist approached a Highway Patrol team on duty in the area. The team, comprising Senior Police Constable Azim Patel and Police Constables Rupesh Bajantri and Shubam Lamani, immediately began making enquiries to trace the missing bag.
The team received a crucial lead from a Swiggy delivery vendor, who provided information that helped the police establish that a taxi operator had found the bag.
The police team followed up on the lead and proceeded towards Dabolim Airport. They informed the airport taxi counter and coordinated with the Traffic Police Inspector and the Dabolim Airport Police Inspector to establish contact with the taxi operator.
The coordinated efforts eventually paid off when the taxi operator was contacted and confirmed that he had found the bag.
The police team facilitated the recovery of the bag and ensured that it was returned to the tourist. The cash and other valuables inside were found intact.
The tourist profusely thanked the Highway Patrol personnel for their prompt response and efforts in tracing the bag and ensuring its safe return.
The incident highlighted how timely intervention and coordination between police personnel, airport authorities, traffic police, taxi operators and members of the public can help resolve such situations quickly, particularly when tourists unfamiliar with the area require assistance.
