PA NAJI: Siddiqui, also known as Suleman Khan, a seasoned criminal wanted in connection with numerous crimes, including murder in Goa, was apprehended by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the land fraud cases.
Police claim that Siddiqui has been avoiding arrest for the past five years by frequently changing his clothes and disguising himself as a woman in order to elude the harsh grip of the law.
Siddiqui, a 54-year-old Hubli native who now lives in Thivim, was wanted in a land fraud case for allegedly illegally transferring a plot in Ekta Nagar into his name and erecting buildings without the necessary permits. Last month, Mapusa Municipality bulldozed the buildings.
In addition to installing barbed wire fencing and unlawfully erecting two concrete structures and a metal shed on the site without the necessary authority’s consent, Siddiqui was arrested for unlawfully obtaining the property surveyed under PT sheet No.67 chalta No.2, Ekta Nagar, Mapusa.
On Tuesday, November 11, he was taken into custody and brought before JMFC Mapusa, who placed him under detention in police custody for nine days.
