PANAJI: NSUI Goa along with PG students say they are against this offline exam. “We condemn this act by GU”, said President of NSUI Naushad Chowdhari.
“Instead of knowing the fact that this second wave has taken many lives of Goans, experts are saying that the third wave is near and will be more dangerous for youths and children. We don’t understand why GU has become so arrogant and has taken the health and lives of students so lightly” said Chowdhari.
He said that in this second wave students have faced a number of problems, few have lost one of their parents, few are with their positive parents in hospital taking care of them, few parents lost their child due to this deadly virus and few students are in home isolation.
“Students’ of Goa have still not recovered from this second wave and here Goa University wants to take offline exams, GU being the only university of Goa taking such decisions and playing with students lives whereas other state universities are conducting online exams across the country. What GU wants to prove by forcing the students to answer in offline mode?” asked Chowdhari.
Earlier, NSUI Goa had started the online protest against GU demanding online exams and students had sent hundreds of emails per day.
“GU declared its under graduation exams in online mode. We are thanking for that decision and it’s the victory of students,” stated Chowdhari .
“But why GU is discriminating against PG students? If UG and other professional courses final year exams are online why PG students have to suffer?” asked Chowdhari
NSUI has demanded from the GU to change its decision and conduct PG final year exams in online mode.
Earlier, GU had issued a notification dated 11/06/2021 stating that 66% of PG semesters should be answered in offline mode whereas PG has total 4 semesters hence 66% of 4 comes to 3 semesters.
“PG students have answered their 1st and 3rd semester in offline mode but due to sudden lockdown in March 2020 the 2nd semester exam of PG was cancelled that means the exam was not even conducted then how Goa university can consider 2nd semester exam as online exam and conduct their upcoming final semester in offline mode?” asked Chowdhari.
NSUI has asked GU to give a written justification on how a cancelled semester exam can be considered an online semester exam.
NSUI Goa has further warned the GU to change the decision and conduct PG final year exams in online mode like other courses.
“If Goa University doesn’t change its decision by Monday 21 June then NSUI Goa will be forced to come on street and will gherao the Vice Chancellor and Registrar” Concluded Chowdhari.
