Panaji: Stating that the guarantees written in the Constitution and the Preamble is for the citizens of this country, the INDIA Bloc’s North Goa Lok Sabha candidate Adv Ramakant Khalap of the Congress Party said that he has vowed to protect these rights.
He was speaking after filing his nomination at Panaji for Lok Sabha election. Also present were Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao, State Congress President Amit Patkar, Aldona MLA and coordinator for the North Goa Lok Sabha seat, Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira, Aam Aadmi Party Goa President Amit Palekar, alliance members and party workers.
“Since my official campaign started on Gudi Padwa, till today, wherever I have roamed in various parts of North Goa, people have welcomed me overwhelming. I consider all of them to be my brothers and sisters. And with this sacred relationship, I am moving ahead. Our Constitution is so vast that everyone is the world respects it. I have taken an oath to protect the Constitution of India. Whatever guarantees are written in the Constitution and the Preamble, is it for the citizens of his country,” Khalap said.
“All the opposition parties have unitedly decided to work to win both the seats in Goa. I am confident that I will win by a margin of 50,000 votes. It will be a victory for me and my party and the INDIA Bloc. The present MP for the past 25 years has done nothing. During the past 25 years, the voice of North Goa has not resonated in the Parliament. I will raise the issues of the state. Whatever is needed to be done for the country, I will do that,” he said.
Patkar said that the party has got overwhelming support in both the districts.
“On this auspicious day, on the occasion of Ram Navami, both the Congress Party candidates have filed their nominations for the Lok Sabha elections. Our allies AAP, Shiv Sena, Goa Forward, TMC, and NCP are all here I thank them. One BJP Cabinet minister has recently made a statement that our situation in North Goa is not on a strong footing. We will try to make it up, and we are confident that our India Bloc North Goa candidate will emerge victorious,” he said.
Alemao said that the Congress will expose the misdeeds of the BJP government.
“I am happy that the candidates the Congress Party has given to the people of Goa will emerge as the voice of the people and the voice of the nation. There is a Ravan raj, goodagiri raj and corruption in the state, on which the government is running, we will expose this. There is dictatorship, corruption by the BJP government. They have ignored Mhadei and unemployment issues. All the opposition parties have united to protect Goa,” he said.
Ferreira said that Khalap has been getting a good response during his campaign.
“We have chosen this important day to file the nominations, and I am happy that so many people have turned out in large numbers to support us. Khalap has met people from all sections of society from the stall vendors to business owners, from the youth to old people are saying that Bhai we want you back. Our campaign drive will move ahead with vigour, and our candidates will win with a good margins,” he said.
