PANAJI: BJP South Goa Candidate Pallavi Dempo today said that she has accepted the verdict of South Goa.
“Thanks to all BJP karyakartas and supporters, my family, my team and the media for their unwavering support. I humbly accept the verdict for South Goa and congratulate Viriato Fernandes. I also congratulate BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi,” said Dempo.
She further extended my heartfelt gratitude to the voters of South Goa for their love and support. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi the central and state leadership for the opportunity to be the BJP candidate for South Goa. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Single largest party nationally and to NDA for getting a majority. Despite the narrow defeat in South Goa, I promise to continue my commitment to serve the people with my social work as I have been doing for decades,” she added.
Capt Viriato defeated BJP’s Pallavi Dempo of by a margin of 13,535 votes. Capt Viriato also foiled the BJP’s attempt to wrest the seat. He polled 2,17,836 votes as against 2,04,301 votes polled by Pallavi.
After confirming his victory, Capt Viriato wasted no time in reaching the counting centre at Margao. Upon his arrival, he was greeted by a large number of jubilant Congress workers, alongside leaders from alliance partners, who were already immersed in celebrating his triumph.
South Goa constituency voted in Phase 3 of the 2024 Lok Sabha election on May 7, 2024, and the counting of votes is being held on June 4, 2024.
