PANAJI: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo today said that illegal activities need to be stopped at Goa’s beaches.
MLA Michael Lobo today, along with panch members, meet CM Sawant over tourism-related issues.
“Illegal activities on the beaches need to be stopped; touts are cheating tourists, and legal businesses are at stake,” said Lobo.
He further said that if this happens, people and tourists will find Calangute unsafe in the future if the government takes no action.
“We will come back again to meet Chief Minister Pramod Sawant people should follow HC’s order on sound pollution,” he added.
Lobo has also urged the state government to set up a quick response force to handle fire incidents and other major beach accidents.
“We had submitted a proposal to the chief minister last year for a quick response team of firefighters who should be stationed on the beach with a four-wheel drive vehicle equipped with foam and a small water tank,” he said.
He said touting misguiding, and cheating tourists are giving the coastal belt a lousy name, and though police have been taking action by fining them, more needs to be done.
“There are some touts who are looting tourists. They will approach tourists and tell them that they will take them to so-and-so club where there are women available, but when they reach there, there is nothing inside,” he added.
