PANAJI: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today has issued a Red alert for Goa forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
The IMD has issued a red alert for June 9 and June 10, forecasting that moderate to heavy rainfall was very likely over North and South Goa districts, the official said.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at a few places with extremely heavy showers at isolated places. Orange alert for July 9-12” IMD said
The state was flooded in several areas on Sunday, resulting in localized flooding and disruptions to daily activities.
People are being urged to stay informed about official weather forecasts and advisories, to avoid needless travel during periods of intense rainfall, and to stay indoors during the next three days due to the possibility of heavy to very heavy showers and strong surface winds.
By Wednesday, the IMD forecast points to a shift in the direction of lighter to moderate rainfall in both districts.
