Expecting the COVID19 cases to cross 1000-mark everyday and most hospitals running full, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday announced that the government will distribute free oximeters, thermometers, HCQ for home isolation patients to monitor themselves.
Rane said that the cases are hovering around 600 per day and he expects the same to rise.
“We were expecting the 25,000 to 30,000 cases at the end of September and that is coming true,” he said.
He said that since the hospitals are running full it is the duty of the government to make alternate arrangements for the people.
“Most hospitals including the private one are running full,” he said adding hence it is necessary to save lives.
Rane said the State health centres will distribute kits which will have all basic equipments.
“The push will have oximeters, thermometers, HCQ strip, the masks, sanitisers, gloves etc,” he said.
He refused to draw any parallels with the AAPs Oximitra campaign saying the government is sincerely doing its job and not playing politics.
“We want to save Goans and do not need to take lessons from a party which has messed and botched up COVID19 management in Delhi,” he said.
Rane said the State’s concern is the common man from rural areas who has limited access to these facilities.
He agreed that there have been some misses but the government is constantly learning and has been able to control things.
“We are constantly learning and have not messed up things like they did in their State until our Union Home Ministertook control and changed things around,” he said.
