CANACONA : Jawahar Bal- Manch (Goa) and Canacona Congress Country’s 78th Independence Day Celebration were held in Avem, Khotigao and many other places in Canacona.
The Jawahar Bal Manch Goa and Canacona Congress met at Laxmi Devasthan, Avem, Khotigao, Canacona and in the presence of locals, particularly the local Teenagers and Youths and celebrated Independence with different programs and activities.
Mrs. Pelajia J. Pires, Chairperson, Jawahar Bal Manch Goa, thanking Khotigao Laxmi Devasthan Committee, the ward people and their children reminded them of the self sacrifice of our freedom fighter to free the nation from the British rule, and also pointed out that countrymen still are left to free themselves from various exploitation.
She informed that her organization will work to provide the best knowledge/ information required to our children through career counselling, admission in institutes of higher education and thereby employment possibilities.
The Goa State Chairperson, Mrs. Pelajia J. Pires inducted and welcomed Mrs. Neha N. Velip into the JBM organization as State Coordinator in the presence of JBM State Co-Ordinator’s Adv. Gerson De Souza, Mrs. Geraldine Carr, AIPC Research Head, Goa State Mr. Francisco Da Costa Ms. Moula Rodrigues, Gen. Secretary, Vasco Mahila Block, Mr. Suresh retired Govt Primary school Headmaster and Laxmi Devasthan President Mr. Daya Gaonkar.
Retired Govt Primary School Headmaster Suresh of Avem, Khotigao advised to seek advice of Career counselling and said it will help in making a right choice for prospective employment.
Mrs. Pelajia Pires later distributed certificates for children of the village who competed in Drawing competition, Rangoli making competition and Musical Chair contest.
Flags unfurling ceremonies were held by Congress leaders in various parts of Canacona constituency. Canacona Block president along with several congress volunteers unfurled tri-color in a brief celebration of Independence day at Agonda.
South District General Secretary (Org) Gasper Coutinho, along with several congressmen and women unfurled tri-color in a brief function held at Palolem on the Independence day.
