PANAJI: India’s star paddlers Sourav Saha and Arjun Ghosh were seen in action on the inaugural day of the Open Team event at the All India Invitational MSC Cup 2022, organised by Miramar Sports Club in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa.
On a day of scintillating action at the multipurpose stadium, Peddem, the reigning National champion Sourav who partnered with former National champion Arjun sparkled for JSA Communications to lead their team at the top of the League table in Group A, with three straight wins over opposing teams.
In Group B, Duarte Warriors and Team AVSC have won two matches each to be tied at the top of Group B with two points apiece. Accolades Table Tennis Academy is placed at the top of the Table in Group C.
There are a total of 18 teams competing for top honours in the Open team event.
On day one, other top players in action were Karnataka’s number one seed Rakshit Barigdad, and Goa’s top paddlers, such as Anshuman Agarwal (National medal winner), Dheeraj Rai, Noel Noronha, Diljeet Velingkar and Anushree Naik, among others.
The Team events will continue on Day two of the 5-day event, where many outstation players compete against Goa’s best across 5 different events.
