CANACONA: As part of an educational program, a delegation from the Kerala State Biodiversity Board paid a visit to the Canacona Biodiversity Management Committee in Shristhal.
A delegation from the Kerala State Biodiversity Board, led by Dr. V. Balakrishnan, Member Secretary, and comprising Drs. C.S. Vimalkumar, K.T. Chandramohanan, and Shri K.V. Govindan, as well as Varsha Hoble, a mentor from the Goa State Biodiversity Board, spoke with traditional healers at Gulem, known locally as Vakhdalis, and engaged with BMC and Panch members regarding the organization’s operations.
Following that, the team took part in the presentation of the Peoples Biodiversity Register (PBR) and expressed gratitude to BMC for their efforts, particularly in preserving the local language and customs.
In the name of the BMC and Panchayat, BMC Chairman Vinay Tubki welcomed the guests. Member Shirish Pai provided an overview of the BMC’s operations and made a PBR presentation. Member Damodar Chari then proposed a vote of thanks.
Along with Sub Committee members Tejas Naik Gaonkar, Rajay Bhandari, Satish Gosavi, and Dipak Bowalkar as TSG coordinator, BMC members Anjali Gaonkar, Chanda Desai, and Govind Velip as well as Sarpanch Sejal Gaonkar, Panch Member Akshada Velip, Ganesh Gaonkar, Livia Naik, and ex Panch Sanju Naik also took part in the discussion.
