PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that The existing 800 cubic meter reservoir at Lamgao in Bicholim Constituency is 28 years old which supplies water to VP Mayem, Narva, Chodan and Part of Bicholim City and that the GLR is structurally stable and sound.
“The repairs required are only superficial. There are no leakages to the GLR and the same is continuously in use. However, this being vital water supply infrastructure the repairing and strengthening of this tank will be undertaken immediately,” said CM Sawant
He further said that department has proposed the construction of a new reservoir with a capacity of 2000 cubic meters amounting to Rs. 3,23,45,989/-. Considering the increase in present demand as well as future demand.
The proposal is already taken up and processed for Administrative Approval. The work will be tendered shortly and the same will be executed on war footing.
“Adequate space for construction of new tank is available adjoining the existing 800 cubic meter reservoir. Hence, there should be no fear and anxiety in the minds of the people” he added
