PANAJI: On the occasion of World Environment Day today, the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant urged citizens to work along with the government towards ecosystem restoration.
Sawant in his address also said that government is committed towards sustainable development.
He said that the theme of the World Environment Day is ecosystem restoration and to achieve the same, all will have to work together.
Further, the Chief Minister said that the State forest department is in process to develop 100 water bodies in the forest areas while over five lakh samplings will be planted.
He also informed that around 50 Vidhya (medical) Mitra are registered with the department towards protection and conservation of medicinal plants.
Sawant also said that the department has trained 250 local youths as forest guards.
On the human- animal conflict, CM said that a compensation of Rs ten lakhs is provided so far as relief to the affected parties.
