BICHOLIM: The Mayem Bhoo Vimochan Nagrik Kruti Samiti working for the abolition of the custodian act has called upon the government to set a deadline for resolving the issue and has decided to have several meetings in the village.
Addressing a press conference here in the city the secretary of the samiti, Rajesh Kalangutkar told that the government is delaying the process of giving sanads to the people from Mayem.
“It is seen that everytime we go to the press government gives us some assurance but later they again delay the process. We want to tell the government that they should now give us a final deadline as to when this issue will be resolved” Kalangutkar told.
He told that there are several issues including that of houses, surrounding land, farms and other such issues but the government is still not touched any of this issue. The samiti demanded class one rights to the people from Mayem.
Advisor of the samiti, Sakharam Pednekar told that they have now decided to make awareness among the youths all over again.
“We have consulted our MLA and have decided to have meetings in the village starting from 9th February. Till date 1140 files have been submitted to the government and only 282 sanads have been issued. It is high time that government should now give us a deadline to resolve the issue” Pednekar told.
