PORVORIM: Health Minister Vishwjit Rane today said that Goa Medical College (GMC) will soon have a PET scan machine to diagnose some health conditions including Cancer.
The Minister also warned GMC to send patients to private facilities for different tests.
The opposition raised and questioned the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane about the health infrastructure at the GMC.
“GMC will soon have a PET scan machine required to diagnose some health conditions including Cancer. The state cabinet has already approved the purchase of this machine,” said Rane.
He further said that Goa has the best facilities in the country but he is not happy with the mammogram machine which is outdated.
“Cabinet has approved to install PET CT scan for Cancer at GMCH; space is identified and the deadline for its installation will soon be announced,” he added
MLAs claim that GMC is sending patients to private facilities for different tests because they are unable to pay the fees.
Min Vishwajit, however, says there is no problem with referrals and advises bringing cases to his attention.
