VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar said a majority of issues raised by farmers and house owners in the area had been resolved, while concerns of land owners would be heard again by the Goa State Wetlands Authority (GSWA).
“All people are happy and convinced about the Maimollem lake wetland declaration. There were small doubts among people regarding their houses, but many realised that their houses were in the grey area and would remain unaffected,” said Salkar.
“The issues of farmers are resolved because we have told them that they can cultivate the fields. The only issue is regarding concerns of land owners and I have assured them that we will go again to the minister and discuss about construction and development permissions that can be offered as per the existing zoning and FAR.”
“The GSWA will again hear the land owners separately and their decision will be taken there. I will be present with them. I will also take them to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and minister with their grievances and present their case, so that they can be allowed to construct as per existing zoning and FAR. Their land should not be wasted and we will make sure that their rights and privileges are also protected,” said Salkar.
