MARGAO: Congress party national leader Rahul Gandhi says Congress will oppose three linear projects and won’t allow Goa to become a Coal hub. Congress wants to make Goa IT an educational hub. Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to Goa to distract people from crucial issues.
Congress party, national leader Rahul Gandhi, said there are very critical issues in Goa. There are issues such as how Goans will get jobs and what Congress is going to do about it.
“We are not going to allow Goa to become a coal hub, and the three linear projects are not in the interest of Goa and Goans,” he said.
Gandhi further said there is high unemployment in Goa, the tourism sector and the mining sector are suffering, and everyone knows about it.
“The last five years mandate was stolen by BJP from the people. Goans had given Congress a mandate, but BJP robbed it by pumping money. BJP did not do any development,” he said.
Rahul said “We plan to restart sustainable mining in a legal ways.”
He also said Congress has a vision for Goa.
“Six thousand rupees a month, thirty per cent reservation for women, coal hub in Goa scrapping and 500 crores from centre to create jobs in Goa. We want Goa to be and IT and knowledge hub. This will help Goa to connect rest of the world. Legal and sustainable mining will give enormous jobs to the Goans. I have spoken to various stakeholders from the Tourism industry, and we will rejuvenation will be done,” he says.
Answering about the alliance with other parties, he said Congress will get a majority.
Gandhi further added that Congress wants to listen to the voice of Goans. Congress has given fresh and young faces this time. It is a time to change the politics of Goa. The manifesto of Congress is made with suggestions from the people.
When questioned about Nehru being alleged to delay the liberation of Goa, Gandhi said PM Modi’s role is to distract and take away from reality. PM doesn’t quite understand the history of post-world war 2.
Further, when questioned about Narendra Modi’s public rally in Goa, Rahul said Goa needs talks about its future, whereas Modi only indulges in distraction. Why he today does not say anything about corruption, demonetization, jobs.
When questioned about 500 crore funding for employment generation, he said we had already done our calculations about employment. Dodging the hijab controversy question, he said he just needs to discuss Goa and its future.
Gandhi said we will get the absolute majority this time when answering the defection. Rahul further urged that Modi tell what he has done for Goa’s Environment, youths, people, etc., rather than other topics. PM Modi had come to Goa to distract people from the main issues. In fact, the main issue of Goa is about employment, Environment etc. which he didn’t do.
