MORMUGAO: Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Monday felicitated local sportsmen for their outstanding achievements at the national level in powerlifting, cestoball, and yoga. The felicitation ceremony celebrated the athletes’ hard work and success at the 13th National Competitions held in Rajasthan from June 6th to 9th.
Addressing reporters, Amonkar expressed immense pride in the athletes’ accomplishments, highlighting the significant representation from the Mormugao constituency. “It is a very important achievement because our team from Goa had participated in the 13th National competitions at Rajasthan and have achieved great laurels for the state. The maximum representation of every medal-winning team came from the Mormugao constituency,” Amonkar stated.
He emphasized the crucial role of local athletes and coaches in this success. “While the athletes were mostly from Mormugao constituency, even the coaches of some teams have been from Mormugao. This felicitation is just done to support their hard work and keep them motivated,” he added.
Amonkar also reiterated his commitment to supporting local talent, promising to provide assistance at both personal and governmental levels. “I will always support them in any ways that I can and even try to offer them support from the Government level as well,” he assured.
